The Munk Hearing Centre is open and we are carefully following all public health directives. Our in-person visits are are by appointment only, as are drop-off and pick-up appointments. We are also assisting patients virtually whenever possible. Unfortunately, we cannot accept walk-ins at this time under any circumstance.
If you need assistance of any kind, please leave a detailed message at 416-340-4800 x. 7067 and a team member will be in touch to discuss your options. We are contacting patients with existing or postponed appointments to reschedule or set-up virtual appointments as needed.
Your safety is our top priority. We want you to feel comfortable and safe when you visit us for your appointment.
We are closely following the health and safety recommendations from Public Health and the University Health Network (UHN). When you visit us, you can rest assured that we are doing everything possible to keep you safe. Our measures meet or exceed recommended safety procedures for personal protective equipment (PPE), infection control, and physical distancing.
For more information on visiting the hospital during COVID-19, please visit the UHN website.
You will be screened prior to your appointment for symptoms of COVID-19 and as you enter the hospital. Do not come to the hospital if you are exhibiting any of the following symptoms:
Fever, chills or headache
New or worsening cough
Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat or difficulty swallowing
Runny nose, or stuffy nose without another cause (e.g., allergies)
Nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain
Decrease/loss of taste or smell
Unexplained fatigue, malaise, muscle aches
Eye pain or pink eye
Masking & Protective gear
Everyone entering the hospital is required to wear a mask. You will be supplied with a procedure mask to wear when you enter the hospital. The mask must remain on throughout your visit.
Munk Hearing Centre staff members will be outfitted with level 3 procedure masks and face shields, plus gowns/scrubs and gloves when indicated.
UHN has joined other Ontario hospitals in moving to a No Visitor policy, with exceptions on compassionate grounds and other special safety needs. No companions or family members are permitted without obtaining prior approval from the unit or clinic manager. This extremely difficult decision has been made to protect the safety of patients and health care workers.
If you believe you have special circumstances that would warrant an exception, please call us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment (416-340-4800 x. 7067).
We will be operating with a locked door policy, meaning that only one patient is permitted inside the clinic at a time. To maintain appropriate physical distancing, all in-person visits are are by appointment only at this time, as are drop-off and pick-up appointments. Additionally, we have added 30 minute breaks between patients to allow time for proper disinfection and to minimize the likelihood of patient overlap.
We are assisting patients virtually when possible. A team member will assist in determining whether an in-person visit is necessary.
Hand hygiene is an incredibly important part of preventing the spread of COVID-19. Hand sanitizer will be provided at entrances to the hospital and the clinic.
Always use clean hands when putting on or taking off your mask (i.e. if you need to remove it to eat or drink).
We have implemented enhanced infection control measures. Medical equipment and high-touch surfaces are cleaned and sanitized between appointments.
