Just like you get your eyes and teeth checked regularly, your hearing deserves the same proactive care. But how often should you schedule a hearing test? The right answer depends on your age and certain risk factors. At Munk Hearing Centre, we've created a simple guide to help you understand the recommended frequency for a hearing evaluation, ensuring you stay on top of your auditory health at every stage of life. Schedule your hearing test today.
How Often Should You Get Your Hearing Tested?

For Children and Young Adults (Birth to 18)
Hearing is crucial for a child’s development. After the initial newborn screening, children should have their hearing checked periodically during regular doctor visits. We recommend a formal ear test if you ever have concerns about speech delays, learning difficulties, or frequent ear infections. It’s a simple step to ensure they have the best start in life.

For Adults (18 to 60)
If you're an adult under 60 with no noticeable hearing problems, we recommend getting a baseline hearing examination to have on file. After that, a check-up every 3 to 5 years is a good rule of thumb. However, if you're frequently exposed to loud noise at work or recreationally (think concerts or construction), you should schedule an annual test to catch any potential changes early.

For Adults Over 60
Once you pass the age of 60, age-related hearing loss becomes much more common. At this stage, we strongly advise an annual hearing test. Regular check-ups allow us to monitor your hearing health closely and address any changes promptly. This proactive approach is key to maintaining your social connections, cognitive function, and overall quality of life.
